It'll be very interesting to see how this all develops. On the citizens' side: I can see the notion of privacy being an important factor... But if gov't is simply giving people easy access to the tools they need or can't find, I think it's a win-win for everyone. If they're providing an outlet for people to have their voice heard, I think it's also brilliant (I mean look at what it did for Obama).

Considering 3 out of every 5canadians has a Facebook profile, it seems obvious to me that government agencies would consider this channel as one of the most effective means of communications, particulary in the 18-34 demographic whom are generally less engaged in government affairs. It is also an opportunity to provide valuable services and information at the point of need for citizens and evaluate their effectiveness in real time.

De plus, ce qui est me semble intéressant c'est d'explorer comment nous pouvons intégrer les principes mêmes de ce qui rend un média "social" à la prestation électronique de service des ministères et organismes.

À voir la croissance des groupes Facebook regroupant des citoyens qui dénoncent les pratiques gouvernementales douteuses, l’État n’a plus le choix de s’impliquer et surtout, il doit répondre en utilisant les mêmes plateformes collaboratives s’il veut renforcer les liens et bâtir une crédibilité avec ses auditeurs.
